Our Work

Our Fellows

Supporting student leadership in sustainability.

reDirect Fellowships

Each year, reDirect partners with the City of Ann Arbor’s Office of Sustainability and Innovations (OSI) to offer summer fellowship opportunities for University of Michigan students.

With guidance from department staff and faculty advisors, students use the Supportive Environments for Effectiveness (SEE) framework to develop strategies that support the City’s sustainability and climate action goals. Under this collaboration, student projects have addressed a variety of topics ranging from the implementation of solar programs to proposals for building climate resilience networks.

Summer 2025 Fellows

Meredith King

Meredith King is a graduate student in the School for Environment and Sustainability at the University of Michigan. She is concentrating on behavior, education, and communication because she is passionate about making people aware of environmental issues and motivating them to take action. Meredith has a background in marketing but wants to expand those skills to equitably engage communities in issues that matter. Her specific areas of interest include waste reduction, circular economies, de-consumption, behavior psychology, and social justice.

For her fellowship project, Meredith is helping OSI design a living learning lab where people in Ann Arbor will be able to learn more about sustainability, resilience, and A2ZERO.

Bridget Yvette Damon

Bridget Damon is a dual-degree student at the University of Michigan pursuing a Master of Science in Environment and Sustainability and a Master of Urban and Regional Planning. Bridget recently worked on a capstone project with the Ann Arbor Public Schools (AAPS) Freeman Environmental Education Center. Her project focused on creating a strategic planning framework to enhance Freeman's educational impact, support land management initiatives, and build long-term capacity for restoration-based environmental learning. Specifically in this project, she researched and developed a potential curriculum outline for an AAPS Career and Technical Education program, centered on sustainability and environmental stewardship.

In addition to her academic pursuits, Bridget is committed to connecting people with nature and addressing climate anxiety and eco-emotions.

Melika Sizar

Melika Sizar is a Master’s student at the University of Michigan School for Environment and Sustainability, specializing in Behavior, Education, and Communication. She brings a deep passion for community engagement, environmental education, and storytelling that centers equity and accessibility. With a background in both science communication and youth education, Melika has led sustainability initiatives ranging from curriculum development for middle schoolers to tool lending libraries that promote a circular economy on campus. She currently serves as an A2ZERO Ambassador for the City of Ann Arbor and supports research on climate anxiety and climate grief as a Research Assistant at SEAS.

As a reDirect fellow, Melika is applying the SEE Framework to support local climate gatherings and partnerships with small businesses, while also contributing to sustainable food procurement strategies that center on behavior change, equity, and community voice.
